According to a ruling issued by Branch 36 of the Tehran Court of Appeals, Behrad Azargan has been sentenced to five years in prison for the charge of engaging in educational or promotional activities deemed "deviant" and contrary to Islamic principles within the framework of a sect, group, or similar organization. Additionally, he has been sentenced to two years in prison for the charge of "spreading falsehoods."
The court also ordered the confiscation of items seized from his residence during a search by authorities, which will now be forfeited to the state. Furthermore, Mr. Azargan is prohibited from using social media platforms and leaving the country for a period of two years.
