Ameneh Bakhoda, the Deputy Prosecutor of Branch 21 for the Enforcement of Sentences at the Mashhad Revolutionary Court, insulted the family of Zahra Kohnehkar

Ameneh Bakhoda, the Deputy Prosecutor of Branch 21 for the Enforcement of Sentences at the Mashhad Revolutionary Court, insulted the family of Zahra Kohnehkar (Sepand Azar), a monarchist political prisoner.

Despite issuing an official notice allowing Zahra’s mother to retrieve her confiscated mobile phone—one of 52 seized personal items—Bakhoda threw the document at the family and refused to hand over the belongings.

According to reports, Bakhoda has also blocked Zahra Kohnehkar’s transfer to medical facilities, leaving her treatment status unresolved more than 14 months after her arrest.

Zahra Kohnehkar Responds

In response, Zahra Kohnehkar condemned the Revolutionary Court’s behavior, stating:

"You and the entire Revolutionary Court have no right to treat even criminals with disrespect—let alone the family of a prisoner. You summoned my family yourselves, yet you treat them with hostility. My interrogations are over; they are neither within your authority nor it concerns my mother. Stop harassing her and face me directly if you have the courage."

She also criticized prison authorities for making false promises to human rights organizations, while failing to uphold their own rulings, leaving prisoners in legal limbo.

From Inside Vakilabad Prison

Speaking from Ward 5 of Mashhad’s Vakilabad Prison, Zahra Kohnehkar described the dire conditions faced by her and other political prisoners:

"Other prisoners call our situation ‘prison within prison.’ But from the depths of Vakilabad, I say this: Iran, like the Simorgh, will rise from its ashes."
