According to received reports, 18-year-old Arian Nabati was shot and killed on February 17th, 2026, in Mashhad’s Pirouzi Boulevard during a ceremony marking the 40th day for those killed in the protests.

Sources close to the family say he was struck by three bullets. After his body was transferred to the hospital, authorities reportedly ordered the cause of death to be listed as a “car accident,” but some medical staff indicated he had been shot.

The family learned of his death around midnight. At his mother’s insistence, only she was allowed to see his body. She said his face was severely damaged.

Relatives say they were threatened and told not to speak publicly, not to post on social media, and to describe him only as having “passed away.”

Witnesses say that during the burial, some mourners ululated and played music, but officers cut the music, replaced it with religious chants, and filmed those present. The funeral was held under heavy security.

Despite rumors of execution, sources close to the family stress that Arian Nabati was killed by a gunshot wound to the head.
