Ehsan Khazaei was arrested

Ehsan Khazaei—the brother of the fallen Erfan Khazaei, who was killed during the National Uprising—was arrested along with his wife Neda Kargar (also known as Hasti Khazaei) after a large-scale raid by security forces on their home in Kermanshah’s Kangavar. The couple was taken to an undisclosed location.

During the raid, more than 60 agents from the Islamic Republic’s Ministry of Intelligence violently stormed the family home. Irfan’s mother and his other brother, Yazdan Khazaei, were severely beaten. The mobile phones of all family members, including those of the parents, Ehsan, Yazdan, and Neda Kargar, were confiscated.

The detained couple, both justice-seekers, are parents to three young children, one of whom is an infant still nursing. As of now, there has been no official statement regarding which agency is responsible for the arrest, the reason for their detention, or their current whereabouts.

Erfan Khazaei, a 30-year-old from Kangavar, was killed by direct fire from regime forces in Shahriar, Tehran, during the national uprising. Under pressure from security authorities, his family was prevented from burying him in his hometown. He was instead interred in a remote location far from Kangavar.
