Harassment followed by congratulatory messages for Donald Trump's victory in the presidential election

Mehdi Shakibafar, an attorney previously sentenced to 22 months and 16 days in prison and a one-year ban from practicing law for "propaganda against the regime" and criticizing a certain revered site, has recently faced insults and threats from authorities handling his case. This harassment followed his congratulatory message on Donald Trump’s presidential election win.

Shakibafar was also sentenced to an additional seven months for chanting "Reza Shah, rest in peace." Other charges against him include providing free legal defense to those detained during the nationwide protests of December 2017, and November 2019, and Iran’s national uprising, reflecting his patriotic stance as a lawyer.
