Dr. Hamid Ghareh-Hasanlou, a physician and one of those arrested during Iran’s nationwide uprising, is serving a 15-year prison sentence in Yazd. For the past three days, he has had no contact with his family, heightening concerns about his health given his multiple medical issues.

According to informed sources, during the most recent in-person visit, prison officials initially limited family visitation to one hour, later extending it to an hour and a half after Dr. Ghareh-Hasanlou protested. During that meeting, he voiced objections to the restrictions. Since then, there has been no communication, and it is believed he may have taken some form of protest action in response to the prison authorities’ behavior.
Dr. Ghareh-Hasanlou is a well-known figure among those detained in the nationwide protests, and his poor health and lack of access to adequate medical care have long raised serious concerns about his condition.
