Political Prisoners in Karaj Transferred to Solitary Confinement and Begin Hunger Strikes:

A pro-monarchy political prisoner, Mehrdad Bakhtiari, the uncle of the state-murdered Pouya Bakhtiari, and political prisoner, Siamak Nasiri, held in Karaj Central Prison, have been transferred to solitary confinement as a punitive measure.

In protest against this decision by prison authorities, both prisoners have declared hunger strikes. Siamak Nasiri has been sentenced to five years in prison for “inciting and provoking people to warfare and violence to disrupt national security,” an additional year for “propaganda against the regime,” and two years of exile in Ahvaz.
