THE EXECUTION OF BAHMAN CHOOBI ON CHARGES OF ESPIONAGE FOR ISRAEL HAS BEEN CARRIED OUT

The judiciary of the Islamic Republic announced that the death sentence of Bahman Choobi Asl, a database specialist and employee of a knowledge-based technology company, was carried out this morning.

State media labeled him as an “Israeli spy”, claiming he was involved in sensitive national telecommunications projects. However, as with many recent security-related cases, no independent evidence or transparent documentation has been released regarding the judicial process, interrogations, or defense arguments.

The only sources of information are state-affiliated outlets, and reports suggest that independent lawyers and family members were denied access to the case.

This execution has once again raised serious concerns about the lack of judicial transparency, violations of defendants’ rights, and the widespread use of espionage accusations as a tool to target experts, activists, and political critics in Iran.
