According to reports, Abolfazl Yaghmouri, a 17-year-old teenager, was killed on the evening of January 9th in the Fardis area of Karaj after being shot directly by Islamic Republic forces.

Gita Yaghmouri, his aunt, said:

“They shot him in the heart. For about forty minutes, while he was bleeding, they kept shooting and didn’t let anyone come near him or move him. Anyone who tried to help was threatened.”

After the killing, security forces collected and removed all CCTV cameras from homes and shops on 15th Street in Fardis, an act the family believes was meant to destroy evidence of the crime.

Abolfazl had recently started rapping and wrote his own lyrics. His friends say he had built a small recording studio in his bedroom closet and sang about the pain of his generation. His Instagram page was new, but from his words and voice it was clear that, had he lived, he could have become a successful rapper and poet.

In one of his performances, he sang:

“It was hard, and now it’s even harder than before,

my notebook is full of pain…”
