Azad Peykarifar, a monarchist political prisoner held in Evin Prison, was transferred to Taleghani Hospital in Tehran due to the deterioration of his physical condition following a heart attack. The attack was reportedly caused by psychological pressure and the prolonged harsh conditions of imprisonment.
Mr. Peykarifar has been sentenced to six years in prison; however, under Article 134 of the Islamic Penal Code, only five years of his sentence will be enforced for the charge of "assembly and collusion with the intent to commit a crime against national security."
