JAVAD GANJI, A FILM DIRECTOR, WAS KILLED BY THE ISLAMIC REPUBLIC DURING THE PROTESTS IN TEHRAN

According to reports received, Javad Ganji, a 39-year-old filmmaker, assistant director, and native of Hamedan, was shot dead by Islamic Republic security forces on January 9, 2026, on the streets of Tehran.

Mr. Ganji was a respected behind-the-scenes professional in cinema and television, well known among directing and production teams. He had years of experience and worked on numerous films and TV projects.

So far, no clear details about the circumstances of his killing have emerged. Due to severe disruptions in communications with Iran, access to independent information remains extremely limited.
