Sahel Nasiri, a 19-year-old from Gilan province, was fatally shot by Iranian police in Zibakenar after officers attempted to confiscate his motorcycle. According to circulated reports, Mr. Nasiri and a friend resisted police orders during a body search, prompting officers to fire two bullets into his head, killing him on the spot.

His death triggered intense anger among local residents. Protesters reportedly stormed the local police station and set its banners on fire. The confrontation escalated into widespread clashes with the arrival of special forces.

In response, the Gilan police claimed Mr. Nasiri and his friend were in possession of drugs including methamphetamine, marijuana, and hashish. They also alleged that Nasiri resisted arrest, attempted to disarm officers, and that the officer initially fired warning shots before using lethal force to "neutralize" him.
