According to reports, a wave of student protests against education policies and the heavy weight of final GPA scores in university admissions has spread to many cities across Iran. Students have held demonstrations in Tehran, Mashhad, Isfahan, Karaj, Shiraz, Kerman, Tabriz, Qom, Yazd, and several other cities.

The students are protesting the continued decisive role of final GPA in the university entrance process. The demonstrations intensified after education officials reaffirmed their commitment to this policy.

Meanwhile, reports from Qom indicate that several student protesters were taken into the provincial Education Department building after their rally, where they were interrogated and threatened. No official response has been issued so far.
