Hamid and Farzaneh Ghareh-Hassanlou, a physician couple arrested during the memorial for Hadis Najafi in Karaj amid Iran’s nationwide uprising, continue to endure harsh prison conditions.

Mr. Hamid, who was initially handed a death sentence, later saw it commuted to 15 years in prison with exile. He is currently held in Yazd prison and suffers from serious health problems caused by severe torture during detention.
Ms. Farzaneh, who also first received a death sentence, was eventually sentenced to five years in prison and exile. She is being held in Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad. Despite being diagnosed with breast cancer and undergoing surgery, she has been denied proper treatment and medical care.
The couple have two children who are struggling with immense hardships in their parents’ absence.
