A NEW CASE WAS FILED AGAINST ABBAS VAHIDIAN SHAHROODI

A new case has been opened against Abbas Vahidian Shahroudi, an imprisoned writer and civil activist held in Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad, and it has now entered the interrogation phase. A session was held in a branch of the Mashhad Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office to address the new charges, reportedly triggered by a letter he released from inside prison.

According to an Instagram account attributed to Mr. Vahidian Shahroudi, the interrogation and formal charging took place without any official notice to him or his attorney. He suffers from health issues, including heart palpitations, high blood pressure, and gum infection, yet has been denied specialized medical care. Despite a forensic medical report stating he was unfit to remain imprisoned, the court rejected his request for release.


Mr. Vahidian Shahroudi has previously been arrested and tried multiple times. He was sentenced to ten years in prison on charges of “forming a group to act against national security and collaborating with opposition groups.” He has been arrested multiple times. Among his published works is the book The Return of Genghis Khan.
