Yashar Tabrizi, a monarchist political activist based in Tabriz, has been detained for more than ten days in connection with the national uprising, and no information has so far been made available about his place of detention or his physical, legal, or health condition.
According to the information received, Yashar Tabrizi was arrested by security forces on January 9th, during the national uprising in Tabriz. Reports also indicate that on January 13th, agents of the IRGC Intelligence Organization raided his home, searched the premises, and confiscated several of his personal belongings, including his mobile phone and electronic equipment.
As of the time of this report, despite repeated follow-ups, Yashar Tabrizi’s family remains completely unaware of his whereabouts, the reasons for his arrest, or the charges brought against him. This situation has heightened concerns about the risk of torture, pressure to extract forced confessions, and denial of his most basic rights.
Yashar Tabrizi has previously been repeatedly targeted by the Islamic Republic’s security and judicial apparatus. In earlier cases, he faced heavy prison sentences and was convicted by security institutions on charges such as “propaganda against the regime,” “insulting the leadership,” and “acting against national security.”
Based on available records, he was also arrested in November 2024 after being summoned to the IRGC Intelligence Office, held for a period in Tabriz Prison, and later released on bail. In recent years, the Islamic Republic has repeatedly sought to suppress civil and political activists through the opening of security cases and the issuance of multiple sentences, in an effort to prevent them from continuing their social and political activities.
