ALI YOUNESI WAS TRANSFERRED TO GHEZEL HESAR PRISON IN KARAJ

Aida Younesi has announced that her brother, Ali Younesi, an imprisoned student, has been transferred to the general ward of Karaj’s Ghezel Hesar Prison after enduring six weeks under harsh conditions in Qom Prison.

Mr. Younesi had previously been moved from Tehran’s Evin Prison, following the prison airstrikes, to the Greater Tehran Penitentiary and later to Qom. He was recently handed a new sentence of six years and three months in prison, exile, and social restrictions in a separate case.

Ali Younesi, a national and international astronomy Olympiad medalist, was arrested alongside fellow student Amirhossein Moradi by Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence. Both were sentenced to 10 years in prison by lower courts and appeals, a term later reduced by the Supreme Court last year to six years and eight months.
