Benyamin Naghdi, a pro-monarchy athlete born in Shiraz, was arrested on the evening of January 3rd.
Fars News Agency, affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), published a video presented as his “confession,” claiming that Benyamin Naghdi is the same individual seen in the widely circulated video showing a lone protester confronting security forces in Shiraz.
Images shared from Benyamin Naghdi’s Instagram account show that he is a champion in open competitions in kickboxing and Muay Thai, and holds international certifications in bodyguarding, coaching, international refereeing, and nutrition coaching.
In one post, he is seen standing in front of the Tomb of Cyrus the Great, with the caption:
“We are all from your lineage, Cyrus the Great.”
In another post, he shared content in support of Prince Reza Pahlavi, referring to him as “His Majesty Reza Shah II.”
