GROWING CONCERNS OVER THE POSSIBLE EXECUTION OF SALEH MOHAMMADI

According to information received, a number of Iranian sports figures have expressed concern over the risk of state killing of Saleh Mohammadi, a young wrestler from Saveh.

Based on these reports, Saleh Mohammadi, a 19-year-old freestyle wrestler and resident of Qom, was arrested by security institutions of the Islamic Republic on January 9th. He is now facing a direct threat to his life and the possibility of being killed by the state.

Saleh Mohammadi is the bronze medalist of the 2024 international Saitiev Cup in Russia and the runner-up of the international Abdollah Movahed competitions.

In this context, Bahador Karami, a former member of Iran’s national boxing team, published a message on his Instagram account calling for public support and for amplifying the voice of this 19-year-old athlete, warning about his possible killing under the guise of a judicial ruling.

These reactions come amid recent alarming reports of injured protesters being abducted from medical centers, “coup de grâce” shots fired at the wounded, and security-driven case fabrication against detainees, a pattern indicating that death sentences are being used in practice as a tool for the systematic killing of protesters and dissidents, placing the lives of many citizens at serious risk.
