KHUZESTAN PROVINCE: MORE THAN 1,600 PEOPLE DIED LAST YEAR DUE TO AIR POLLUTION

The deputy director of Jundishapur University of Medical Sciences in Ahvaz announced that in the past year, 1,624 people in Khuzestan have died due to air pollution. He added that 22,000 residents sought medical care.

Mehrdad Sharifi said the air in Ahvaz, Dasht-e Azadegan, and Hoveyzeh was considered healthy for only two days in recent months, and that air pollution has cost the province’s health sector more than 427 million dollars.
