According to reports, Pedram Nemati, a soldier from Marvdasht who was transferred to a defense industry facility in Malard, Tehran, after completing military training, died on April 6th, just two days after returning to his post.
Reports say he had taken leave and not returned to duty for about 20 days, during which he was reportedly pressured and threatened with coming back. However, only two days after his return, his family was informed of his death. According to the family, when they saw the body, they noticed a bullet wound under his throat and injuries to parts of his face.
While the death was initially described as a suicide, after the family objected, they were told the body could only be handed over if he was registered as a “martyr.” The family says these claims do not match what they observed, and that narratives of being killed in war or bombing are inconsistent with the condition of the body.
According to these reports, his body was first taken to the forensic medical center in Malard and then to Kahrizak, with the case handled under tight security procedures. His body was ultimately transferred under heavy security from Tehran to Marvdasht and buried there.
