Mohammadamin Akhlaghi, has attempted suicide

Mohammadamin Akhlaghi Savojbolaghi, one of the defendants in the "Ruhollah Ajamian killing" case, has attempted suicide while serving his sentence in Vakilabad Prison, Mashhad.

His brother, in a post on Instagram, revealed that after the attempt, Mohammadamin was placed under surveillance for 24 hours but is now being held in poor conditions. He described his brother’s physical and mental state as critical, emphasizing that he cannot endure imprisonment.

Mohammadamin was sentenced to five years in prison by the Revolutionary Court of Karaj and was transferred to Vakilabad Prison in 2023 after the Supreme Court upheld his sentence.

During the legal process, three other defendants had their charges dropped and were released, while the Supreme Court overturned the sentences of 14 others, including death and exile sentences, ordering a retrial.

This case, linked to the Iranian nationwide uprising, escalated with the execution of two protesters, Mohammad Mehdi Karami and Seyed Mohammad Hosseini. Mohammadamin Akhlaghi was arrested and tried in the same period.
