On Saturday, February 22, a group of oil sector employees hired in 2014 gathered in southern Iran’s oil-rich regions to protest economic hardships and unfair wages. The demonstrators voiced frustration over the widening gap between their salaries and the increasing cost of living, as well as the lack of proper compensation for their specialized skills and heavy workloads.

The protesters also criticized unfulfilled promises by authorities regarding wage adjustments and improved benefits. Many workers in the sector have long complained about difficult working conditions, lack of job security, and inadequate financial support, particularly as inflation and economic instability continue to impact their livelihoods.
